Global Affairs Canada · Contribution program

International Criminal Court

The purpose of Canada’s membership in the ICC is to advance Canada’s interests internationally by promoting international peace and security through accountability for the most serious crimes. Canada pays ICC-assessed annual contributions that enable the Court to carry out investigations; to mount prosecutions; to practice universal and targeted outreach to counter the culture of impunity and advance the interests of justice; and to carry on all other activities required and expected of a judicial body functioning in accordance with international standards of justice.
