Security Action for Europe (SAFE)

Canada’s participation under SAFE supports several key objectives of the Government of Canada: a. Canadian companies will be provided the opportunity to bid on contracts under SAFE-financed procurements, thereby helping to build up Canada’s defence industry and enhance Canada’s resilience and security. b. Canada achieves greater defence industry collaboration with EU MS, advancing priorities set out in the 2025 Speech from the Throne, which committed Canada to join the EU’s ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030, and in the PM’s 2025 Mandate Letter, which identifies strengthening collaboration with reliable partners and allies as a top priority. c. Finally, Canada’s financial contributions will support the continental defence of Europe and Ukrainian industry, in line with commitments in Budget 2025.
